Albert Jean Adolphe was a well listed landscape and portrait painter born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1865. He was educated at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Art and later at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, France. He was a pupil of James Whistler and Thomas Eakins.

He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, , the Paris Salon, The Pennsylvania Academy and the Saint Louis Exposition World's Fair in 1904. He died in 1940.
