A well listed California painter and pupil of
Millard Sheets, Alexander Nepote is primarily known for his mixed-media
abstractions.
Born in 1913 near Stockton, California, he studied
at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and received his
Master's Degree from Mills College. He was the Dean of the Faculty at the
California College of Arts and Crafts from 1945 to 1950, and later served in
the same position at San Francisco State College from 1950 to 1977.
He was a member of the West Coast Watercolor
Society, the Bay Area Regional Art Association, and the California
Watercolor Society. He died in 1986.
