This is an iconic painting of a 1924 painting done
after the style of
American ex-patriot painter Gerald Murphy heir to the Cross Pen fortune, who
lived in France and was associated with all the giants in 20th Century art
who were working in France at the time.
He painted only a limited number of works before a
family crisis intervened and he had to relocate his family to the Swiss
Alps. Born in 1888, he died in 1964.
