Earl
Washington woodblock prints have become notorious as possible works of a master
wood-engraver who lived between 1862 to 1952, or outright forgeries by a person
with the same name who claims to be a legitimate great-grandson.
The
prints are similar in many ways to the works of famous printmakers of the
Twentieth Century. Nevertheless, E. M. Washington prints have become highly
collectible for both the quality of the work as well as the alleged art scam
surrounding their origin.
