Born in 1900, Elsa Warner was an influential figure in the California art world, for a time serving as the President of the California Watercolor Society.

She studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, California in the early 1930's, and later headed the Art Department at the Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California. This painting came from a corporate collection. She died in 1988.
