Born in 1905 in the Black Forest
of Germany, Fritz Faiss was a student of Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky at
the Bauhaus. Held as a political prisoner by the Nazis, he moved to
California in 1951 and began teaching at the University of California. The
bulk of this artists' work is in the collection of a family in Appleton,
Wisconsin. He died in 1981.
