Gertrude Roberts Rugh was a Swiftwater, Pennsylvania artist who specialized in portraits and landscapes in oils.  This painting was donated to the collection of Central Connecticut State College in New Britain by Douglas Rugh, the son of the artist, and a professor at the college.
