Born in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania in 1953, Jay Wickersham was raised in Rye, New York, and
studied at the Art Student's League and learned Chinese brush work from a
Chinese émigré.
He later continued his art education
in Paris and found employment in the Paris Flea Market. He was a skilled
craftsman working in furniture restoration and carpentry. He continued his
interest in art and had several gallery showings in san Diego, California at
the now defunct La Marquesa Art Gallery.
In 1998 he
relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana where he passed away on
September 7th, 2003.
These works were purchased
by the previous owner at the gallery show in 1991.
