One of
the most well known contemporary painters in Santa Barbara, California in
recent years, Joseph Areno is known for his Genre landscapes of Santa
Barbara and the Los Angeles area.
He studied art in Montreal, Canada, New York, Paris and
the Santa Barbara City College under Jorgen Hansen and Richard Phipps. A
room at the University Club was named after him and he was a member of the
esteemed Oak Group. He died in 2006.
