Karl Schmidt is a well-listed California & Connecticut painter known for
his landscape and marine seascapes.
Born in 1890 in Worcester, Massachusetts, he studied at the Polytechnic
Institute and in England. He was a resident of Boston, Massachusetts until
he moved to Santa Barbara, California in 1915. He joined the Navy in 1918
and served in the Bureau of Aeronautics.
He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, and exhibited widely. He died in
Los Gatos, California in 1962.
