A well listed painter and
illustrator, Leon Geille de Saint Leger was best known for his Orientalist
landscapes of Morocco and Algiers.
Born in Algiers, Morocco in 1863,
he studied at the Conservatory of Hippolyte Dubois and was sent as a
fellow to l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he was a student of
Hebert, Mersan, Lefebvre
and Demont.
He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists
in Paris from 1893-1901. His works are exhibited in the Museum of Fine Arts
in Algiers.
His paintings were
recently included in a special exhibition at the Hotel Des Vented in Lyon,
France. His date of death is unknown.
