Born in 1903, Lynn Stacey is a noted woman painter, designer, illustrator and commercial artist born in Washington D.C. and educated at the University of Iowa, the Cumming School of Art, and the National Academy of Design.

She exhibited with the Iowa Art Salon, winning medals in 1927 - 1928 and 1930 - 1931, the National Academy of Design , and other Midwest venues. She operated her own decorating firm and prepared cover illustrations for Wallace Farmer,  Iowa Handbook, and also for the Schaefer Pen Company, General Motors and the Ford Motor Company.
