Born in 1921, Mel Fowler is a listed American 20th Century painter,
sculptor, potter and educator
known for his colorful Cubist still lifes and landscapes executed during the
1960s and 1970s.
His style, often compared to that of Georges Braque,
led Mel Fowler to be represented by the FARR Galleries in Manhattan. There
is some speculation that he also exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum. He died
in 1987.
This strikingly well done Cubist
piece was found in Connecticut on a recent buying trip, and is signed lower
left.
