These are vintage beach scenes by
listed California painter, sculptor, and photographer Otis Alfred Williams. Born
in 1888 in Missouri, Otis Williams settled down in Southern California with his
family in 1892.
He studied at the School of Art and
Design in Los Angeles, California, the Arts Student's League in New York City,
New York, and the Beaux Arts Institute. While in New York, he was influenced by
the leaders of the Ashcan School, most notably by Bellows and Henri. Upon
returning to Los Angeles, he was active in the local art scene and exhibited at
the California Art Club, the Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles, and the
Artist's Fiesta. He died in 1960.
