Often referred to as the
"Picasso of the Philippines", Paco Gorospe was born in Binondo,
Manila, Philippines in 1939.
His works were inspired by the colorful but simple
lifestyles of his native people. After selling many of his paintings
locally, his first major exhibit was in 1962 at the Washington State Fair.
He was selected to represent his country at the 1964 New York World's Fair
and had other exhibits in Japan, Germany, Switzerland and Denmark. He
died in 2002.
