Palm Springs, California's own
Stephan H. Willard has been acclaimed as one of the "Finest Scenic
Photographers of his era". Born in 1894, his family moved to to California
in 1896, and he began his life-long avocation of photography at age 16.
He moved to Palm Springs after serving in World War I
in France, and set up his first home and studio here. Stephen Willard
established the practice of enlarging his photographs, and hand tinting the
various elements of the artwork.
His complete personal collection of artworks was
donated to the Palm Springs Art Museum after his death in 1966.
