A well-known actress of both stage and screen, Sylvia Sydney was born
Sophia Kosow in the Bronx in 1910 and became an actress at the age of
fifteen.
Her career took off in the 1920's and lasted up until
the time of her death in 1999. She was not known as a painter, although this
artwork shows a talent for the primitive, folk-art style.
