William Jacobs is a listed painter, craftsperson, illustrator and woodblock
printer who was known for his figural and social paintings.
Born in 1897 in Chicago, Illinois, he studied at the
Chicago Art Institute and Hull House. He was a WPA artist through the
Depression, and painted murals in public buildings.
He was featured in the book Art of Today: Chicago
published in 1933. He died in 1973.
