William Ross Cameron is a well-listed illustrator, etcher,
watercolorist, and lithographer.
Born in 1893 in New York City, New York, by 1905 he had resettled in San
Francisco, California, where he studied at the CSFA and the CCAC, then later
studied in London, England, and Paris, France. He worked as a freelance
illustrator on the staff of several newspapers, but by the 1930's he was
known for his miniature watercolors which he exhibited at the Oakland Art
Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts
and the DeYoung Museum.
He died in 1971.
